CCL-Carnival Cruise Line posted a video previewing the anticipated BOLT roller coaster - to be installed on the XL-class newbuilds Carnival Mardi Gras (2021) and Carnival Celebration (2022).

The new ship Mardi Gras is scheduled to debut in February 2021 from Port Canaveral FL and could be among the first major liners unveiled since the pandemic began.

In the video, taken before the pandemic, cruise director Matt Mitcham says that "the countdown to her arrival starts now". The video shows the BOLT roller coaster at Maurer headquarters in Munich Germany.

"Workers have installed nearly 800 feet of suspended track for BOLT, the first roller coaster at sea, that will encircle upper decks and offer guests an exhilarating ride with dips and drops with breathtaking ocean views 187 feet above the waterline," according to Carnival spokesman Vance Gulliksen.

The cruise ship is selling itineraries through April 2023.
