CCL-Carnival Cruise Line and PortMiami Florida USA on Friday, January 29, held an official groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of Terminal F which will serve as the homeport of Carnival Celebration (company's second Excel-class vessel - after Mardi Gras).

Currently under construction by Meyer Turku Shipyard (in Turku Finland), Carnival's Celebration is scheduled to debut in November 2022, as part of the company’s 50th birthday festivities.

Carnival President Christine Duffy and Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, along with construction partners and county commissioners, used ceremonial shovels to mark the beginning of construction on the 471,000-square-foot facility which will be the third terminal of Carnival at the port and its biggest in South Florida.

The cruise line got its start when its original “Fun Ship,” TSS Mardi Gras, departed on an inaugural voyage from PortMiami in March 1972.
