Simon Palethorpe (Cunard's President) said that was a very special moment as Queen Mary 2 returned to France and "to the skill and talent in the Damen shipyard in Brest."

“As we have not been sailing for the past 18 months we cannot wait to return to the sea and to give our guests the memorable voyages for which Cunard is known.

“We want to ensure that Queen Mary 2 is checked throughout as we prepare for this return to sailing. The dry dock service will prepare all aspects of her technical and mechanical capability as well as her interiors and extraordinary guest spaces so that they are in the finest condition ready for November.

“The attention to detail shown by Damen will ensure that the ship’s return will enhance this already momentous occasion for our crew and guests.”

Damen Shiprepair & Conversion Global Cruise Product Manager, Rogier van der Laan, said they were extremely proud to be entrusted by Cunard Line with the refit of Queen Mary 2 at their facilities in Brest.

“The preparation for the return to service of this most iconic cruise liner is not only a very important occasion for our organisation but also for the Brest community as a whole.

“We very much look forward to welcoming Queen Mary 2 and providing the high level of service that Damen is renowned for.”
