Princess Cruises pleads guilty to 2nd probation violation

Princess Cruises pleaded guilty to violating its probation related to environmental crimes.

According to court records, company officials have signed a plea agreement on Wednesday, January 12, in Miami (Florida USA) federal court.

The cruise company must pay a US$1 million criminal fine as well as undertake remedial measures to ensure it and its parent company, Carnival Corporation, establish and maintain an independent internal investigative office.

Princess Cruises was fined USD 40 million back in 2017 after pleading guilty to felony charges stemming from deliberate dumping of oil-contaminated waste from one of the line's vessels and intentional acts to cover it up.

The cruise company was convicted of 6 probation violations in 2019 and fined an additional USD 20 million.
