Cincinnati is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio, serving as county seat of Hamilton County. The city was settled in 1788. It is situated on the north side of the confluence of Licking with Ohio River. The latter forms the border between the Ohio and Kentucky states. Cincinnati is the 3rd-largest city in Ohio and 65th-largest city in the United States with a population of 296,900 people. The bigger Cincinnati metropolitan area has a population of 2,215,000, making it the 28th-largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the U.S. and the largest in Ohio. The city of Cincinnati is also part of the bigger Cincinnati–Middletown–Wilmington Combined Statistical Area (CSA), with a population of 2,172,000.
Cincinnati is home to a couple of major sports teams, Cincinnati Reds, the oldest franchise in Major League Baseball, and Cincinnati Bengals of the National Football League. The University of Cincinnati, established in 1819, is one of the 50 largest in the U.S. Cincinnati is famous for its historic architecture. In the late 1800s, it was commonly referred to as "Paris of America", due to such ambitious architectural projects as Cincinnatian Hotel, Shillito Department Store and the Music Hall.
