Kirinda is a port village located in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka.
- Kirinda gives access to Yala National Park. Also famous as Ruhuna, it's an important national park situated on the south-eastern coast of Sri Lanka. Much of this reserve is parkland. However, it also contains beaches, jungle, scrubland, freshwater lakes and rivers.
- Yala has the highest concentration of leopards in the world, despite the fact that seeing this largely nocturnal carnivore requires some luck. There are also good numbers of wild Boar, Asian Elephants, water buffalo, grey langurs and crocodile among other large animals.
- The open park land attracts birds of prey like white-bellied sea eagles. The wetlands boast waders and painted storks, as well as the rare species of black-necked stork. Land birds are in abundance, including Indian Peafowl, Sri Lanka Junglefowl and Sirkeer Malkoha.
