On October 15, 2003, due to strong winds (speeds up to 65 kph / 40 mph), the ship was pushed against a pier in Port Civitavecchia (Rome). Reported were starboard hull damages (gash above the waterline), but no injuries or vehicle damages.

The boat then left for Olbia (Sardinia Island), where all the 500 passengers were disembarked, then continued to Palermo for repairs.

02 September 2003Ship Collision / Allision

On September 2, 2003, at ~6:30 am, upon entering Port Genoa, the ship rammed Andrea Doria Pier, then leaned against a construction site.

The vessel reported hull damages (to the bulbous bow). No injuries were reported. Of all the 900 vehicles parked on car decks, 4 sustained damages as one of the cars didn't have the handbrake on.

At ~7.30 am, all the 2700 passengers were disembarked. Due to the needed repairs, the evening departure was delayed. Pier's damages were estimated at around EUR 1 million.

Note: Actually, this type of marine accident is called “allision” (striking a fixed object) as opposed to “collision” (striking another vessel).
