All are outside staterooms with direct access (via sliding glass doors) to Lower Promenade Deck - an outdoor (open deck) walking area that encircles the entire ship.

  • Lanai cabin passengers receive on their first day a special access card for the sliding door. The card is different from the key card for the interior corridor (entry) door. The card will be placed in an envelope on the bed.
  • To unlock the sliding door from the inside, you'll have to push the green button located next to the door. The door unlocks, and after exiting the room, it shuts and locks again automatically.
  • To unlock the door from the open deck, you'll have to wave the access card over a panel (located outside the room).
  • Each Lanai cabin has two “dedicated lounge chairs” (teak, with cushions) located on the  open deck. Each chair has a signage stating that the seating is reserved for Lanai passengers only.
  • Each stateroom has 2 closets (fold-down shelves, full-length mirror), 3rd closet (2 bars for hanging clothes), 4th closet (chest, 3 drawers, shelves, personal safe), private bathroom (single sink, WC, 2 glass shelves with Elemis bath products, 1 below-sink shelf, bathtub/shower). Handicap cabins are without the bathtub and with different furniture placement.
  • Lower Promenade Deck is the ship's muster deck, which makes the staterooms' location a convenience during the muster drill.

Aegean Majesty cabins review

The list of Veendam cabins by type includes a total of 193 Suites (no Standard Balcony rooms), 344 Oceanviews (including 76 Lanai cabins), and 138 Inside rooms. There are 31 different cabin categories. Of all passenger accommodations, 29% feature step-out balconies. There are 16 Spa cabins (12 VQ/Vista Suites and 4 IQ/Inside), 18 wheelchair-accessible cabins, and 97 interconnecting rooms.

Below is a review of the Holland America Veendam staterooms, including amenities, furniture, and complimentary services provided.

All cruise staterooms come with the following amenities: sleeping area (2 twin beds convertible to queen), en-suite bathroom (WC, bathtub, shower with massage shower-heads, luxury bath products, hairdryer), lounge/sitting area (sofabed, vanity table with magnifying mirror, HDTV, DVD player/DVD library, radio), personal stationery, electronic safe box and lifejackets (in the closet), direct-dial phone, and individual air-conditioning.

The list of bonus amenities/perks provided to all cabin grades includes luxury bedding sets and mattresses, terry robes, cotton towels, and complimentary services upon request (shoeshine, express ironing, laundry, robes and slippers, pillow menu, yoga mats, fresh fruit, ice delivery).

All Suites (including Vista/balcony cabins) feature floor-to-ceiling sliding doors opening to a private veranda with lounge furniture (1 small table, 1 or 2 sunloungers, 1 chair). Pinnacle and Neptune suites have 4 chairs on their balconies.

You can see all the furniture details in the ship's cabin floor plans above.

Pinnacle and Neptune Suites additionally have twin beds convertible to king, bathrooms with whirlpool bathtubs, dressing rooms, and a double sofa bed in the seating area. Guests in these Suites enjoy additional perks, including: concierge service, priority services (check-in, debarkation, tender boarding, dining reservations), in-room dining (Afternoon Tea, canapés), umbrella, binoculars, Welcome Aboard gifts (flowers, fruit, champagne, bottled water), exclusive Suite Lounge access, and complimentary laundry (dry cleaning, pressing).

The largest accommodation is the Penthouse Suite on Navigation Deck 10 (forward-starboard location). The Penthouse has an oversized whirlpool bathtub, a guest bathroom, dressing room, separate living room (with double sofa bed), and dining room (with mini-bar, pantry, and refrigerator).

Most Ocean-view cabins have Picture Windows, except for category G staterooms, which have 1 Porthole Window. Oceanview room categories H and HH have obstructed views (due to lifeboats).

The new category CA "Lanai" rooms (located on Deck 6) feature sliding doors opening onto the Lower Promenade Deck 6 (walk-around deck space).

Wheelchair-accessible cabins (for disabled passengers) are in the following categories: Neptune Suite (SA), Vista Suite/Balcony room (B), Oceanview (FF, C, G-porthole), and Interior (K-Large).

Holland America Veendam passengers booking Suite categories enjoy the following "perks" (bonus amenities):

  • Neptune suites - Nespresso coffee machine, BOSE SoundDock (multimedia iPod docking station), complimentary in-cabin breakfast option, luxury bath products (by Elemis).
  • Signature and Vista suites - binoculars (usable throughout the cruise).

Implemented fleetwide in 2019, the "Club Orange" program provides exclusive amenities to Suite passengers booked in Neptune and Pinnacle categories. Bonus perks include:

  • Priority services (check-in, disembarkation, tendering, dining reservations)
  • 24-hour concierge service (assistance, information, reservations)
  • Exclusive dining venue (serving complimentary Pinnacle Grill breakfast and Dining Room dinner, plus exclusive dishes)
  • Dedicated Concierge Desk (Guest Services and Tours)
  • Room service (à la carte breakfast menu with complimentary gourmet dishes, including smoked salmon, steak and eggs)
  • Sparkling wine (embarkation day), Club Orange tote bag, premium bathrobes (cabin use, available for monogramming and purchasing)
