Viking Sea cabins review

Below is a review of Viking OCEAN ship Viking Sea staterooms, including furnishings, price-included amenities, and complimentary services:

  • Decor features light woods and nautical colors.
  • King-size “Viking Explorer” bed (with deluxe mattresses and linens, cashmere blankets), with optional twin-bed configuration.
  • Luxurious private bathroom with heated floor and anti-fog mirror, glass-door shower, hairdryer, premium Freyja bath products, deluxe bathrobes, slippers, towel warmers, and ample storage space.
  • The seating area is furnished with a sofa, coffee table, vanity desk with chair, and wardrobe. A full-length mirror (with built-in lighting) can double as a night light, with a conveniently positioned on/off switch by the bed.
  • Satellite phone (direct dial, located on the vanity desk), smart HDTV (3D infotainment/interactive TV system with Internet access, room service ordering, on-demand movies, live webcam views, and Viking Cruises channel for news, enrichment lectures, and port talks), in-room binoculars, personal safe, individual climate control, and 220V/110V power outlets (European and US standard). The key card must be inserted into a slot by the entry door to activate the cabin’s power supply.
  • Coffee machine and mini-bar (replenished daily with bottled water, soft drinks, and snacks).

All cabin decks feature a self-service launderette (complimentary), equipped with ironing boards, washers, dryers, and detergent.

All cabin categories include complimentary on-demand movies and 24-hour room service. Suite categories (and Deluxe Veranda cabins) also include complimentary laundry, pressing, and shoeshine services.

  • Priority cabin access: Explorer and Junior Suites (11:00 am), Penthouse Veranda (1:00 pm), Deluxe Veranda (2:00 pm), Standard Veranda (3:00 pm).

All guests (except those in Standard Veranda cabins) also receive priority reservations for shore excursions.

Veranda and Deluxe Veranda cabins (categories V and DV) are similar in size (225 ft² / 21 m², plus 45 ft² / 4 m² balconies). Each features a lounge area (two armchairs and a coffee table), and a balcony furnished with two chairs and a table suitable for outdoor dining. Key differences: Veranda cabins do not include a mini-bar, binoculars, coffee machine, or cashmere blankets, and their guests cannot pre-book dining reservations. Deluxe Veranda guests can access cabins earlier (2:00 pm vs. 3:00 pm).

Penthouse Veranda (category PV) cabins are larger (280 ft² / 26 m², plus 60 ft² / 6 m² balconies) and offer upgraded services. The seating area includes a sofa, coffee table, and armchair. Additional storage and a slightly larger bathroom (including a larger shower) are provided. Perks include priority dining reservations (Main Dining Room, Chef’s Table, and Manfredi’s), complimentary pressing and shoeshine, and early cabin access (1:00 pm).

Penthouse Junior Suites (category PS) are the smallest suite accommodations (335 ft² / 31 m², plus 70 ft² / 7 m² balconies). The lounge area includes a sofa, coffee table, two armchairs, and two HDTVs (one in the sleeping area and one in the lounge). The bedroom is separated by a curtain. Perks include early check-in (11:00 am), guaranteed reservations at Chef’s Table and Manfredi’s, and complimentary laundry, dry-cleaning, pressing, and shoeshine. Two wheelchair-accessible units are available, featuring roll-in showers and accessible balconies.

Explorer Suites (category ES) range from 460–700 ft² (43–65 m²), with balconies of 165–490 ft² (15–46 m²). Located at the ship’s corners (forward and aft), they offer panoramic views on two sides. Aft-facing suites have larger balconies (with loungers), smaller living rooms, and larger bathrooms with balcony-view windows, while forward-facing suites have glass windbreaks and slightly different layouts. Features include a dining table for four, a living area (sofa, coffee table, two armchairs), and a walk-in closet. Amenities and perks are similar to Penthouse Suites.

Explorer Suite bathrooms are among the highest-rated at sea, featuring a glass-enclosed shower and bathtub with ocean views, a separate sitting area, and a spacious double-sink vanity with ample storage. Additional features include Italian handcrafted fixtures and heated tile floors.

The Owner’s Suite (category OS, located forward starboard on Deck 7) is the ship’s largest accommodation (1,320 ft² / 123 m², plus a 175 ft² / 17 m² balcony). It includes a living room (sofa, coffee table, chairs, wet bar), separate dining area (six-seat table), walk-in closet, powder room, separate bedroom (king-size bed, walk-in closet), and a private boardroom (meeting room with a 10-seat table, guest bathroom, and butler’s pantry with a small oven). The master bathroom features a double-sink vanity and large shower. A unique feature is the ocean-view sauna. The veranda is furnished with loungers, a table, and chairs. Perks include a custom-stocked mini-bar, early check-in (11:00 am), guaranteed dining reservations, and complimentary laundry, dry-cleaning, pressing, and shoeshine services.

The complimentary 24-hour room service menu includes dishes such as pasta (bolognese, pesto, pomodoro), grilled salmon, Norwegian gravlax, grilled chicken, burgers (including vegetarian), chef’s salad, and cheese plates. Breakfast options include sandwiches, French toast, pancakes, oatmeal, eggs, and fresh fruit.

Viking OCEAN cruise fares are all-inclusive and include:

  • One complimentary excursion in each port of call
  • Complimentary beverages, including beer and house wine during lunch and dinner
  • Free Wi-Fi (unlimited shipwide Internet access)
  • Complimentary specialty restaurant dining (except for the lowest-category Veranda cabins)
