Deck layout and review

Review of Fred Olsen Borealis deck 9 (Sports-Observatory-Sundeck2)

Observatory is a fore-located/bow-facing indoor observation lounge with panoramic windows, its own bar and a large dance floor. This is a stylish, relaxed venue popular for pre-dinner cocktails and live music performances (by a resident pianist), making it a social hub in the evenings. The Observatory also offers traditional Afternoon Tea service (at extra charge) with live piano music and premium teas.

Sliding Dome Cover is the retractable glass roof over the ship’s Lido Pool area.

Sports Courts is an outdoor area with a full-size Tennis Court (portside), a Basketball Court (starboard), and a space dedicated to Shuffleboard/deck games.

The Sports Deck also provides some of the best vantage points to take photos and enjoy top-deck views along the cruise route.

Olsen Art Studio / Arts & Crafts Room is a dedicated creative space designed for passengers interested in visual arts and crafts and reflects the Fred Olsen family’s interest in art. The Olsen Art Studio is equipped with a range of art materials such as paints, drawing and crafting supplies, and easels, and it provides an environment where guests can work on their own artistic projects or improve their skills. Scheduled classes and activities led by instructors are offered at times during the cruise, and some activities may have an associated cost to cover materials. The venue also functions as an open workspace where passengers can paint, draw, colour or craft independently during specified hours.
