Deck layout and review

Review of MV Magellan Explorer deck 5 (Observation-Lounge)

Forward is the Observation Deck's upper level (an outdoor viewing area) which is directly accessed via outdoor stairs (from Deck 4 below) as well as from the Observation Lounge & Bar (an indoor lounge enclosed with floor-ceiling windows).

Aft-located Zodiac Deck with an outdoor BBQ area. The ship's Expedition Landing Craft fleet consists of 10x inflatable motorized boats (Zodiacs), 2 lifeboats and loading stations. Zodiacs are used for passenger disembarkation (tendering and landings) in remote areas otherwise inaccessible by the cruise ship. Each expedition boat has length 19 ft (6 m), max capacity 12 people, and is powered by a 4-stroke diesel engine. These speedboats are specially designed (military-grade) watercraft with extra holds and custom-designed ladders for easy boarding/debarkation.

Cruise cabins from 501 to 504, all of which are Penthouse Suites.

The Navigation Bridge (aka Wheelhouse) and the adjacent officers' quarters are located forward-midship on deck 6 over the Bar Lounge).
