Juneau police identifies the overboard crew from HAL's cruise ship MS Koningsdam

Juneau AK's police identified the missing male crew from the HAL-Holland America ship Koningsdam.

The 31-year-old man (Tennessee resident) Lorenzo Anthony Holmes Jr worked on the cruise liner as an entertainer.

Lorenzo had been employed for Holland America as a keyboard player and had been working on ms Koningsdam since May 2022.

According to the statement, the Juneau Police Department had been notified by the USCG/Coast Guard that they had received a report of a man who had gone overboard from MS Koningsdam.

At the time of the accident, the HAL's vessel was navigating in the Gastineau Channel, across from Egan Drive's 430 block.

“Initial reports from cruise ship passengers reported hearing screams from a person in the Gastineau channel. CCTV from the cruise ship confirmed a person climbed over the ship's railing and never return. Passengers from a nearby cruise ship reported seeing something fall from the cruise ship Koningsdam and then call out for help."

USCG responded to the area in order to search the water while JPD searched the shorelines. However, nobody was located. As of August 9, the USCG has called off the search.

The overboard occurred during MS Koningsdam's 7-day Alaskan Inside Passage Cruise which departed roundtrip from Vancouver (BC Canada) on August 6th.

The police report reads:

"The cruise ship Koningsdam has identified the person who went overboard as 31-year-old Tennessee resident Lorenzo Anthony Holmes Jr. Mr. Holmes was an entertainer on the cruise ship and had been working there since May of this year. Next of kin for Holmes has been notified.”
