Shipbuilder SWS soon starts construction of the second vessel for Adora Cruises China

The Chinese shipbuilder Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co LTD (SWS) announced today that the second China-manufactured large cruise ship is set to commence construction in April 2024, with delivery expected by the end of 2026.

The construction timeline includes the float-out scheduled for May 2025, undocking in March 2025, and the commencement of sea trials in 2026-Q4.

The new ship (LOA length 341 m/1119 ft and width 37.2 m/121 ft) boasts a volume/GT-tonnage of ~142,000, 2144 passenger staterooms and a 6-deck-high living and entertainment area.

Equipped with two desulfurization towers and selective catalytic reduction/SCR systems (scrubbers), the vessel represents an upgraded version of Adora Magic City. It is 17.4 meters (57 ft) longer, 0.67 million tons heavier, and includes 19 additional rooms, as per insider information.

The ship's outfitting project officially commenced in February, signifying the beginning of the construction phase.
