Royal Caribbean suspends Labadee port calls amidst Haitian violence

RCI/Royal Caribbean International has decided to suspend cruise ship visits to its private resort Labadee (on Haiti's northern coast) amidst escalating violence within the Caribbean nation.

RCI emphasized the paramount importance of ensuring the safety and security of their guests, crew, and the communities they visit. The company's Global Security and Intel Team is actively monitoring the evolving situation in Haiti. As a precautionary measure, adjustments to sailings that include Labadee as a port of call are being temporarily implemented.

Royal Caribbean's private port in Labadee, located ~130 mi (210 km) from Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, has been a staple in its itinerary since the 1980s.

Port Labadee, nestled on a peninsula in northern Haiti, is exclusively accessible to guests and employees of RCG/Royal Caribbean Group. Equipped with private security, the site features a day-use resort offering amenities such as five beaches, a zip line, and various recreational activities.

Given the ongoing gang violence in Haiti's capital and the political turmoil gripping the country, Royal Caribbean remains vigilant, continually assessing the situation, and will provide updates directly to affected guests as necessary.
