Monic van der Heijden, Commercial Director of Cruise Port Amsterdam (PTA), reports steady progress in the construction of the energy hub for the Passenger Terminal.

Collaborating with PowerCon and subcontractor BAM Infra, the current focus lies on the foundation work, slated for completion by the end of April.

Structural construction of the building is scheduled to commence in May, with an anticipated finish by mid-July. In June, the installation of sea containers housing the shore power system for cruise ships will take place within the facility.

Concurrently, from April to September, efforts by CPA will address cabling under the quayside and gangways.

The shore power installation, capable of connecting 1 ocean cruise ship and 8 river cruise ships, remains on track for completion in the first quarter of 2025.

Dick de Graaff, Managing Director of CPA, emphasizes that the availability of shore power by 2025 marks a significant milestone in their ambition and strategy to facilitate emission-free cruising.

Financing for the energy hub is provided by the Port of Amsterdam.
