In a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing sustainability in river cruising, Neste and OK Slurink, a subsidiary of Catom BV specializing in bunkering services, have teamed up with Scylla Cruises, a leading river cruise ship owner, to supply Neste MY Renewable Diesel (HVO/Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) for Scylla’s riverboat operations in the Netherlands.
This collaboration, which began in February 2024, represents a significant move towards more sustainable practices in inland shipping, particularly within the river cruise sector.
OK Slurink BV will provide Neste MY Renewable Diesel to Scylla’s fleet of 40 riverboats. Neste MY Renewable Diesel is an immediately available solution for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
Derived entirely from renewable raw materials, the use of Neste MY Renewable Diesel results in up to a 75% to 95% reduction in GHG emissions over its life cycle compared to fossil diesel.
This partnership addresses the urgent need for more sustainable solutions in the river cruise industry. Since Neste MY Renewable Diesel has a similar chemical composition to fossil diesel, it serves as a drop-in solution that can be used in all diesel-powered vessels without requiring modifications to engines or fuel distribution infrastructure.
