HAL-Holland America Line reintroduces behind-the-scenes ship tours

   July 23, 2025 ,   Cruise Industry

HAL-Holland America Line has reinstated its behind-the-scenes ship tours, providing guests with structured access to operational areas of the vessel not typically open to the public.

The tours include visits to locations such as the bridge/wheelhouse, galley/kitchen, engine control room, laundry facilities, and waste management areas. Additional stops include storerooms, the bakery, dressing rooms, and bars.

Senior officers and department heads meet guests during the tour to explain each area's functions and significance in daily operations. The initiative is designed to offer passengers a clearer understanding of the complexities behind cruise ship management and logistics.

According to HAL, guest interest in visiting operational zones has remained consistently high. These tours are intended to meet that demand and allow guests to engage directly with crew responsible for culinary, navigational, and environmental functions.

Currently offered aboard select ships, the tours are expected to become available across the fleet by the end of July. They are priced at US$179 per person and include accessibility options. Bookings can be made onboard.
