AmaWaterways has bestowed the maritime honour of godmother upon Sarah Little, who serves as senior vice president of business development at the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA), for its forthcoming vessel AmaSofia.
The news was confirmed during the Travel Leaders Network EDGE conference in Las Vegas, with the christening scheduled for March 2026 during the ASTA River Cruise Expo in Amsterdam, where the boat will debut on the Danube.
Sarah Little conveyed her deep appreciation for the role, remarking that being named godmother of AmaSofia was particularly meaningful, given both the elegance of river travel and the shared values she observed between ASTA and AmaWaterways in support of travel advisors. She expressed anticipation for the vessel’s naming alongside her peers at the Expo. Kristin Karst, co‑founder and chief brand ambassador of AmaWaterways, lauded Little’s steadfast advocacy for advisors and her passion for the sector, describing her appointment as an ideal recognition to be shared before an audience of over 1,600 travel professionals.
When AmaSofia enters service in late spring 2026, it will become AmaWaterways’ 24th European vessel, offering 7‑night voyages along the Danube—including Melodies of the Danube, Romantic Danube, and Christmas Markets sailings—as well as a lengthier inaugural 14‑night Magnificent Europe journey from Amsterdam to Budapest.
The christening ceremony, following age‑old maritime rites but tailored to contemporary audiences, will celebrate both the vessel’s launch and the collective efforts of its creators, performers, and leadership.
Thus, as AmaSofia approaches her maiden voyage, Sarah Little will stand at the prow as godmother—a living link between ASTA’s community of travel advisors and AmaWaterways’ dedication to river cruising excellence.
