While docked in Kuşadası on July 7, the Celebrity Infinity experienced a power failure traced to a minor electrical fire aboard. The outage plunged cabins into darkness, halted air‑conditioning and food service, and impacted scheduled onboard events.
Passengers ashore when the incident occurred on July 8 were later informed that the blackout had taken place during that period. Overnight diagnostic procedures identified further technical complications, leading to specialists being flown in and extending the ship's stay in port until at least the evening of July 9.
The original itinerary included a scheduled departure on July 7 bound for Mykonos, with a subsequent call at Kavala (Greece). Due to delays, the ship omitted the Kavala port entirely. Guests received written confirmation that their safety and comfort had been prioritized in the decision.
To compensate for the missed port, Celebrity Cruises issued onboard credit varying by cabin class: from US$200 for inside cabins to US$ 600 for deluxe suites, with a US$50 allotment for third and fourth passengers per stateroom.
Plans are underway to replace the July 11 sea day with a visit to Mykonos, though this adjustment has not yet been finalized.
Despite the setback, the vessel is expected to arrive in Piraeus, Athens, on July 12 for guest disembarkation as originally scheduled.
Amid this disruption, passengers expressed appreciation for the crew’s handling of communications and basic needs during the blackout, and the majority have remained understanding of the extended port call.
