Dream Cruises has announced the return of its popular “Durian Party” aboard Genting Dream, scheduled across 4 specially designated 2-night sailings between Singapore and Melaka, Malaysia. Set to depart on 24 and 31 August, as well as 7 and 14 September 2025, this short voyage offers guests a unique blend of maritime travel and tropical indulgence.
Passengers will have the opportunity to disembark in Melaka for a curated durian experience known as the “Eat-All-You-Can Premium Durian Buffet.” This event promises an abundant offering of Malaysia’s most esteemed durian varieties, such as Musang King, Black Thorn, Tan Sri XO, and Red Prawn, among others. Guests who prefer lighter fare will also find a refreshing selection of tropical fruits available. The tasting event lasts approximately 90 minutes and is followed by a leisurely visit to Jonker Street, Melaka’s renowned cultural and culinary corridor. Round-trip coach transfers between the cruise terminal and buffet venue are included. The experience is priced at SG$45 per person, with advance booking through cruise packages or onboard via the Deck 6 Box Office, subject to limited availability.
Michael Goh, President of StarDream Cruises, remarked that the return of the Durian Party signifies a revitalised celebration of Southeast Asia’s beloved fruit, now with expanded offerings and enhanced guest experiences. He noted that the cruises are designed to blend Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage with a variety of activities suited for all age groups.
Adding a further layer of depth to the durian-themed voyage, the cruise will feature Edison Ang, a widely followed Malaysian durian expert and digital content creator. Edison will make special guest appearances at the Melaka buffet on selected dates. Known for his in-depth knowledge and entertaining content across multiple social platforms, Edison will share insights on durian selection, cultivation, and taste profiles. His presence aims to provide guests with a deeper appreciation of Malaysia’s durian culture in an informative yet engaging format.
The durian festivities are not limited to the port call in Melaka. Onboard activities will include durian-themed quizzes and interactive games designed to entertain and educate guests on the subject. Additionally, workshops offering creative, durian-inspired arts and crafts are available for passengers of all ages.
Beyond the fruit-centric programming, the Genting Dream offers a full spectrum of amenities. Guests can enjoy international and Asian dining options, all-inclusive of Halal, vegetarian, and Jain meals. Evening entertainment features theatrical productions at the Zodiac Theatre, along with outdoor movie screenings under the stars. Recreational facilities include waterslides, rope courses, jacuzzis, rock climbing walls, and spa services, ensuring a well-rounded cruise experience for all on board.
