MSC Explora Journeys embarks on ‘Currents of Connection’ Caribbean holiday voyages

The luxury cruise brand Explora Journeys, part of the MSC Group, will observe the festive season in the Caribbean under the theme “Currents of Connection,” with voyages aboard its vessels EXPLORA I and EXPLORA II that aim to emphasise reflection, discovery and reconnection. The programme spans the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Eve period, offering sailings that range from seven to seventeen nights in duration.

The theme draws on the concept of ocean currents—metaphors of connection between distant shores and the passage of time at sea—and the line explains that “Currents of Connection” is intended to bring together guests, destinations and time itself in a meaningful, unhurried manner.

On board, the festive experience will combine traditional holiday elements with modern touches: gala dinners and festive feasts will sit alongside wellness sessions focused on gratitude and intention, gingerbread-house making, mixology workshops, live music evenings and open-air film screenings under the stars. Guests will be encouraged to slow their pace, engage with onboard moments as well as explorations ashore.

The Caribbean itineraries call at ports selected for their natural beauty, culture and quiet sophistication. Among them are Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas (where morning swims in Magen’s Bay may be followed by market browsing), Terre‑de‑Haut in Les Saintes, Guadeloupe (a tranquil village of pastel houses), Bridgetown in Barbados (where colonial architecture and rum heritage converge), Fort‑de‑France in Martinique, and Basseterre in St. Kitts & Nevis (offering reef kayaking and volcanic hikes).

A highlight of the season includes a New Year’s Eve sailing that features fireworks over San Juan, Puerto Rico, while guests at sea will also be invited to toast the transition into the new year in an environment designed for calm celebration rather than rush.
