As part of Guadeloupe (France), Saintes islands are also part of the European Union's ultra peripheral regions. On the big islands (Haut and Bas) there are city halls, PTT (La Poste) offices, 6 schools.
Iles des Saintes cruise terminal
Most cruise ships to Iles des Saintes (Guadeloupe) dock at Terre-de-Haut Island's port. This is a tender port. Its docking pier is too small for cruise vessels, so they anchor near the island and transport their passengers to the pier via the ship's tender boats.
On Terre-de-Haut Island is located Les Saintes Airport that serves the archipelago. The airstrip is built on an isthmus in the middle of the island.
