Princess Cruises achieved a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for the most margaritas sold within an 8-hour period, marking the occasion aboard Regal Princess during National Margarita Day celebrations. The record involved the sale of 3,410 handcrafted 24K Margaritas featuring Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila, exceeding the previous benchmark of 2,728. The attempt took place on February 17th while the vessel, with a capacity of 3,560 guests, was berthed in Cozumel during a 7-day Western Caribbean itinerary departing from Galveston, Texas. The ship’s bars collectively participated in the initiative, transforming the onboard environment into a coordinated event centred on the line’s signature cocktail.
The official adjudicator from Guinness World Records observed that the atmosphere across the vessel reflected the scale of the undertaking and confirmed the establishment of the new record for margaritas sold within the defined time frame. The recognition formalised the result of the campaign conducted during the sailing.
The record-setting effort coincided with a broader commercial milestone for the beverage partnership between Princess Cruises and Pantalones Organic Tequila. Between January 1st, 2025 and January 7th, 2026, more than 1,038,000 units of the 24K Margarita were reportedly sold across the fleet. The cocktail, prepared exclusively with Pantalones Organic Blanco Tequila, has emerged as the most requested signature drink within the brand’s beverage programme. Management noted that the volume achieved reflected strong guest adoption following the introduction of the partnership in October 2024, when the collaboration was launched across the fleet and subsequently developed into one of the most prominent branded beverage alliances in the cruise sector.
The milestone followed the recent naming ceremony of Star Princess, during which Camila and Matthew McConaughey served as godparents and conducted the traditional blessing of the vessel with a bottle of tequila. The gesture was framed as a symbolic expression of good fortune for the ship’s future voyages.
Company representatives stated that the beverage programme is intended to align with the onboard experience by combining storytelling, hospitality and brand collaboration. The achievement of both the one-million-unit sales threshold and the world record title during the same period was presented as evidence of passenger engagement with the product.
Pantalones Organic Tequila, available in Blanco, Reposado and Añejo expressions, is served throughout the fleet and is included within selected package offerings. Beyond the 24K Margarita, the brand supports a series of additional cocktails developed in collaboration with a fleet mixologist. These include variations that combine reposado tequila with lime juice and aperitifs, a tropical blend featuring jalapeño and pineapple, and a paloma-style drink incorporating grapefruit elements. A mobile tequila cart operating on board provides customised cocktail preparation and contributes to the promotional visibility of the partnership.
The tequila label is positioned within the company’s broader portfolio of celebrity-affiliated beverages, which also encompasses wines, spirits and non-alcoholic selections associated with various public figures. Distribution occurs through bars across the fleet and through designated beverage packages.
