Viking Cruises has strengthened its European river fleet with the addition of two new vessels, Viking Annar and Viking Fjolvar, both constructed at the Neptun Werft shipyard, part of the Meyer Group in Germany.

The two ships have been assigned to different regions of Europe’s inland waterway network. Viking Annar will operate along the Rhine, Main and Danube rivers, while Viking Fjolvar will be deployed on the Seine, sailing from its homeport in Paris.

The company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Leah Talactac, indicated that the new vessels had been designed to provide guests with an immersive way to experience Europe’s history, culture and river landscapes.

Designed for service on the continent’s major waterways, Viking Annar accommodates 190 passengers in 95 staterooms. The vessel incorporates Viking’s characteristic Scandinavian-inspired design and features a distinctive bow configuration that increases onboard space and allows for larger public areas.

Viking Fjolvar, built specifically for operations on the Seine, accommodates up to 168 passengers across 84 staterooms. From Paris, the vessel will offer itineraries through the French capital and the Normandy region, providing access to destinations closely linked to the cultural and historical heritage of northern France.

The introduction of the two vessels forms part of Viking’s continued investment in its European river operations, further expanding capacity across some of the continent’s most established and sought-after cruise routes.
