Riviera Travel has welcomed the newest addition to its five-star river fleet with the introduction of Riviera Resplendence, which departed Cologne on July 4th, 2026 for its inaugural Rhine Cruise to Switzerland. The vessel, unveiled in late June, is the third member of the company's Radiance Class and marks another step in the continued expansion of its European river cruise programme.
Built in partnership with Scylla, Riviera Resplendence accommodates up to 178 guests in 89 cabins and suites. The ship incorporates the Radiance Class split-level design, creating brighter public areas, enhanced panoramic views and a more contemporary onboard atmosphere. Public facilities include a lounge, three dining venues specialising in regional cuisine and an expansive sun deck, while the interior design features warm wood finishes, gold accents and richly patterned wall coverings to create an elegant yet welcoming environment.
Riviera Travel indicated that the new vessel reflects the company's ongoing investment in its award-winning river cruise fleet. According to company president for North America Stuart Milan, growing demand for premium river cruising has encouraged further fleet expansion with purpose-built ships designed to deliver the brand's established combination of comfort, value and destination-focused experiences.
During its inaugural season, Riviera Resplendence will operate 18 itineraries on the Rhine and Danube rivers. These include voyages between Budapest and the Black Sea, Rhine cruises to Switzerland, Rhine and Moselle itineraries, Blue Danube sailings, festive holiday departures and dedicated solo traveller cruises.
The vessel has been designed to provide an immersive exploration of Europe's inland waterways. Guests will travel through historic cities, cultural landmarks and renowned wine regions while enjoying spacious onboard accommodation and contemporary public spaces. Riviera Travel also confirmed that the Radiance Class will continue to expand with the planned introduction of Riviera Reflection and Riviera Rhapsody over the next two years.
