Silversea has completed its 2026 Alaska season, with Silver Moon and Silver Whisper operating 30 voyages between Vancouver, British Columbia, and Seward, Alaska, from May 14th through September 3rd.
The two ships operated 7-night itineraries in both directions through the Inside Passage, visiting 14 destinations. The programme combined established ports such as Juneau and Skagway with smaller destinations including Metlakatla and Klawock. The ships also provided scenic cruising past Hubbard Glacier and through Icy Bay.
Among the season’s shore experiences were kayaking in Sitka Sound, a private rail journey to the summit of the White Pass, helicopter flightseeing over the Juneau Icefield and glacier dog sledding. Other excursions included ATV journeys through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve, floatplane flights over Misty Fjords National Monument and backcountry activities around Haines and Ketchikan.
Wildlife encounters reported during the season included sightings of humpback whales, orcas, brown and black bears, bald eagles, Dall sheep and puffins. Silversea also offered pre- and post-cruise land programmes incorporating Denali National Park and Alaska’s rail network for passengers extending their trips beyond the ship.
Silversea President Bert Hernandez said the 2026 programme reflected the company's emphasis on destination-focused cruising, with the relatively small size of Silver Moon and Silver Whisper allowing access to less-visited parts of Alaska. He added that the line planned to maintain this approach in its 2027 programme.
The 2026 season also coincided with the opening of the Dale R. and Carol Ann Lindsey Alaska Railroad Terminal in Seward. Developed by the Alaska Railroad, Royal Caribbean Group, The Seward Company and Turnagain Marine Construction, the facility opened in June and includes a floating pier with shore-power capability and direct access to the Alaska Railroad.
The terminal supports itineraries combining Silversea cruises with rail travel before or after the voyage. Royal Caribbean Group has also expanded its involvement in Seward through its Port Partners Small Business Accelerator programme, which provides funding and mentoring to local businesses. In 2026, the programme awarded a US$20,000 grant to Exit Glacier Greenhouses to support its expansion of local fresh-produce production.
Silversea will return to Alaska in 2027 with 29 voyages aboard Silver Moon and Silver Whisper, scheduled from May 27th through early September. The programme will include additional scenic cruising in Tracy Arm and at Sawyer Glacier, alongside calls at Hubbard Glacier and Icy Bay.
Selected 2027 excursions will include a Taku Lodge salmon feast combined with 5-glacier flightseeing in Juneau, sportfishing in Ketchikan and river rafting through Keystone Canyon near Valdez.
Among the scheduled sailings is a 7-night Silver Moon voyage from Seward to Vancouver from June 3rd to June 10th, 2027. The itinerary will follow the Inside Passage, with calls at Juneau, Ketchikan and Skagway and scenic cruising in the Hubbard Glacier region.
A second highlighted 7-night Silver Moon sailing will operate from Vancouver to Seward from August 19th to August 26th, 2027. The itinerary will include Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Sitka, together with scenic cruising at Hubbard Glacier and Tracy Arm before concluding in Seward.
