Norwegian Sky is completing its final cruise for NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line today, September 9th, 2026, concluding a 27-year career with the company before transferring to a new operator in India.
The ship’s final NCL voyage is a 9-day Mediterranean sailing from Barcelona to Piraeus. A subsequent itinerary through the Red Sea toward the Middle East was canceled because of the prevailing geopolitical and security situation in the region.
Built in Bremerhaven and entering service in 1999, Norwegian Sky is currently the oldest vessel in Norwegian Cruise Line’s fleet. After the final passengers disembark, the ship is expected to be transferred to Cordelia Cruises under a long-term charter agreement and renamed Cordelia Sky.
Preparations for the transition were already visible during the farewell voyage, with some onboard facilities, including the shops, art gallery and spa, operating with restrictions. Restaurants, bars and lounges continued to operate as normal.
Conversion work had reportedly been planned at Dubai Drydocks World, but the regional security situation has affected those plans, requiring the refurbishment to be carried out at another location.
Under the current schedule, Cordelia Sky is expected to begin operations from Mumbai on October 23rd, 2026.
Norwegian Sky’s sister ship, Norwegian Sun, is also expected to join Cordelia Cruises in India, with its transfer currently planned for autumn 2027.
