Two crew members were reportedly removed from Azamara Journey and deported while the ship was operating a 12-night voyage from Montreal to New York.
The report did not identify the U.S. port where the crew members were detained. The circumstances surrounding their reported removal, including the reasons for the deportations, remain unclear and have not been independently confirmed.
Azamara Journey’s published itinerary included a call at Portland, Maine, on October 4th, followed by Boston on October 5th and Oak Bluffs on Martha’s Vineyard on October 6th. The ship was scheduled to transit the Cape Cod Canal late on October 5th before continuing to New York, where it was due to arrive on October 7th. The itinerary establishes the vessel’s movements during the period but does not indicate where the reported crew removals took place.
The report follows another unconfirmed incident involving Majestic Princess in Boston. Eight crew members, comprising seven Filipinos and one Indian national, were reportedly deported on October 5th, according to information shared by social media pages.
The latest reports come amid increased concern among some cruise ship workers regarding U.S. port calls. NCL-Norwegian Cruise Line has reportedly organized town hall meetings to address questions and concerns raised by its crew.
