China’s second domestically built cruise ship, Adora Flora City, is scheduled to operate from Hong Kong as its homeport in 2027, expanding Adora Cruises’ presence in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the company announced on Friday.

The vessel is expected to offer ~20 cruises departing from Hong Kong during the year. The programme will include 4- and 5-night itineraries to international destinations such as Vietnam and South Korea, as well as longer voyages across Northeast and Southeast Asia. Three additional cruises without scheduled port destinations are also planned.

The deployment coincides with the 30th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to Chinese sovereignty in 2027. Adora Cruises identified the city’s position as an international tourism and maritime hub as an important factor in strengthening its operations in the Greater Bay Area and connecting the region with international markets. The company also indicated that it intends to expand its capacity in Hong Kong, supporting the city’s ambitions to develop as a major cruise hub in Asia.

Measuring 341 metres in length and with a gross tonnage of 141,900, Adora Flora City features 2,130 cabins and can accommodate up to 5,232 passengers. Compared with Adora Magic City, China’s first domestically built large cruise ship, the new vessel incorporates upgrades to its spatial design, intelligent technologies and onboard passenger experience.

The ship is scheduled to undertake its inaugural voyage from Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on November 22nd, 2026. A special overnight New Year’s Eve cruise departing on December 30th will include a stay in Hong Kong, allowing passengers to welcome 2027 against the backdrop of Victoria Harbour.

Adora Cruises currently operates Adora Magic City, Adora Mediterranea and Piano Land, with services covering eastern, southern and northern China, as well as Hong Kong.
