Propulsion Problem on Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Forces Itinerary Change

   March 30, 2017 ,   Accidents

Passengers aboard Anthem of the Seas received a letter in their staterooms from the Captain, that indicated a propulsion problem had caused an itinerary change for ship's current sailing.

Capt. Srecko Ban sent a letter to passengers, in which he stated:

"Anthem of the Seas experienced a technical issue on one of its propulsion motors."

He indicated that ship's engineering team was working on the issue, but in the meantime, Anthem of the Seas would be sailing at reduced speed.

The itinerary of Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas was revised as follows: Cape Liberty (Mar 26), Coco Cay (Mar 29), Nassau (Mar 29-30), Port Canaveral (Mar 31), Cape Liberty (Apr 2).

Capt. Ban made it clear that all remaining motors were fully operational, and there was no impact on the maneuverability of the vessel or the safety of passengers and crew.
