Seychelles Boasts 20% Increase in Cruise Ship Arrivals

Port Victoria/Mahe Seychelles continues to welcome an increasing number of visitors with the cruise season now in full steam.

The Seychelles cruise season lasts from October through April, and local authorities expect 20% increase in passenger arrivals.

Three dozen cruise ships are scheduled to arrive by the end of the season, beating 2016 figure of 30 cruise ships which docked in Port Victoria.

In July 2017, Seychelles came out as top destination for cruise ships in the region, winning Indian Ocean’s Leading Cruise Destination at 2017 World Travel Awards.

A lot of efforts have recently been geared towards enticing more cruise ships to include on their itinerary the Vanilla islands (affiliation of islands located in the Indian Ocean, set up as travel destination brand, comprising Seychelles, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Maldives and Reunion.

The majority of cruise liners to Seychelles dock in Port Victoria, main port of Seychelles which opened in 1972. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted at special reception area, accompanied by music and dancing from the islands.
