Ventus Australis, the new expedition ship built for the Patagonian company Australis Cruceros, for ‘bottom of the world’ cruises to Cape Horn, the glaciers and fjords of Tierra del Fuego, met the sea for the first time as it sailed from Punta Arenas for a maiden voyage.

Based in her homeport of Punta Arenas, Ventus Australis will offer 4-night cruises to Ushuaia or return. Currently, Australis is the only cruise operator to offer regular trips through the narrow Tierra del Fuego fjords and to offer guests the chance to go ashore on Cape Horn.

Ventus Australis will navigate legendary maritime channels like the Strait of Magellan and Beagle Channel, before reaching the “end of the world” at Cape Horn.

Passengers will be taken ashore daily onboard zodiacs, accompanied by expert naturalist guides. All voyages include complimentary, guided excursions, great cuisine, Argentine and Chilean wines.
