On May 3, Silver Spirit left Fincantieri's shipyard in Palermo 49 ft (15 m) longer, following the completion of a complex refurbishment and lengthening project.

Cut in half, lengthened via the insertion of pre-built section, and extensively renovated, Silver Spirit was enhanced and embarked on her inaugural voyage from Civitavecchia on May 6.

The 59-day drydock lengthening project brought the Silversea-owned ship to exceptional standard: stylish decor enhancements brought superlative comfort along with a sense of spaciousness to suites and public areas; the pool deck was enlarged; a new 8-restaurant arrangement increased dining options, through the introduction of Atlantide, Indochine, Spaccanapoli and Silver Note, as well as renovation of La Terrazza; several new amenities upgraded the onboard offering, such as Arts Cafe, Tor’s Observation Library, Zagara Spa, Panorama Lounge, and Dolce Vita lounge.

Bound for Barcelona, Silver Spirit’s inaugural itinerary is the first in a series of European cruises. In September, the ship will sail to North America, where she'll stay until November. From then, the vessel will welcome passengers in the Caribbean.
