Fred Olsen Introduces Caribbean ‘Voluntourism’ Shore Experiences

Following the success of 2017 fundraising across Fred Olsen's fleet in support of Caribbean hurricane relief effort, when generous passengers donated more than GBP 25,000 to the very worthy cause, the cruise line has pledged to provide shore tours which take in experiences that are ‘away from the traditional tourist trail’ on 2019 Caribbean itineraries.

In September 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused devastation to much of the Caribbean, and Fred Olsen passengers were keen to support the region's rebuilding. Examples of a couple of Fred Olsen’s new 2019 Caribbean ‘voluntourism’ shore experiences include Saint Lucia school visit and Dominica Trail Clean-up & ‘Keepin’It Real’ Experience.

Next year, Fred Olsen will offer a wide variety of authentic Caribbean fly-cruises onboard its smaller cruise ship, ms Braemar, ranging from 31-night ‘Transatlantic Crossing and Caribbean Christmas’ voyage, departing from Southampton UK in January, to a 14-night island-hopping adventure in ‘The Eastern Caribbean’, from Bridgetown in December.
