In a cruise industry first, Carnival Mardi Gras will feature the first roller coaster at sea when she debuts in 2020, providing unique open-air ride onboard line's most innovative ship.

Built by Munich-based Maurer Rides, BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster is arush of adrenaline offering about 800 feet of twists, turns and drops. Riders will be able to reach speeds of almost 40 miles per hour.

BOLT is an all-electric roller coaster allowing a couple of riders in motorcycle-like vehicle to race along a track that is 187 feet above sea level with breathtaking 360-degree views.

Riders' speeds are posted after each race, and just like land-based roller coasters, passengers have their photo taken during the ride.
