RCI-Royal Caribbean International’s newest Icon-class vessel, Legend of the Seas, arrived at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on November 7th, 2026, marking its first visit to the United States. The 250,800-gross-ton ship reached the port following its inaugural Mediterranean season and a transatlantic crossing that began in Barcelona on October 25th. During the voyage, the vessel called at Palma de Mallorca, Malaga and Cadiz before crossing the Atlantic. A brief diversion towards Puerto Rico on November 5th allowed the U.S. Coast Guard to conduct a medical evacuation without affecting the ship’s arrival schedule.
Legend of the Seas is the first Icon-class vessel to be based at Port Everglades and the largest cruise ship to operate from Fort Lauderdale. Its first Florida departure is scheduled for November 8th, with a 3-night voyage to Royal Caribbean’s private destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas. The ship will return on November 11th, when the cruise line will hold its official naming ceremony. Retired U.S. Air Force General Lori J. Robinson has been appointed as the vessel’s godmother.
Following a second three-night sailing, the ship will begin its regular Caribbean programme on November 14th, alternating between 6-night Western Caribbean and 8-night Southern Caribbean itineraries. Both cruise programmes will include a call at Perfect Day at CocoCay, while the longer voyages will also visit destinations such as Willemstad in Curaçao and Oranjestad in Aruba.
The vessel features eight distinct onboard neighbourhoods, 40+ dining and beverage venues, and a range of entertainment and leisure facilities. Among its main attractions are Category 6, described by Royal Caribbean as the largest waterpark at sea, and Crown’s Edge, a combination of skywalk and zip-line experience suspended 154 feet above the ocean. The entertainment programme includes productions of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and America’s Got Talent LIVE, while dining options include the Hollywoodland Supper Club and Royal Railway – Legend Station.
Built at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Finland, Legend of the Seas accommodates 5,610 passengers at double occupancy. The vessel is the third ship in Royal Caribbean’s Icon class, following Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas. It is scheduled to remain based in Fort Lauderdale until spring 2027, before returning to Europe for another Mediterranean season.
