Viking has opened bookings for its new 19-day Grand Nile Journey itinerary, with departures scheduled to begin in 2028.
The cruisetour offers an extended exploration of Egypt, combining 4 hotel overnights in Cairo with a 14-night cruise between Cairo and Aswan aboard the all-suite hotel ship Viking Ra.
The itinerary includes 17 guided tours covering Egypt’s major historical landmarks as well as lesser-visited archaeological sites and communities in Middle Egypt. In Cairo, guests will visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx and the Grand Egyptian Museum. Further south, the programme features the Meidum Pyramid, the Noblemen’s Tombs of Beni Hasan, the remains of the ancient royal capital of Tell el-Amarna and the Deir el-Muharraq monastery, an important site in Egypt’s Coptic Christian heritage.
The journey also includes visits to the temples of Luxor and Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and the Temple of Seti I at Abydos. In Aswan, guests will explore the Philae temple complex and the monumental temples of Abu Simbel, as well as take a traditional felucca sailing excursion on the Nile.
Additional pre- and post-cruise extensions will be available in Cairo, Morocco and Jordan, offering further opportunities to explore the region.
Purpose-built for Nile navigation, the Viking Ra accommodates 52 guests in 26 suites and features the Scandinavian-inspired design characteristic of the company's river and ocean fleet.
The new itinerary expands Viking’s existing Egyptian programme, which includes the 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids journey and the 12-day Total Eclipse on the Nile voyage scheduled for 2027.
Viking currently operates 10 Egyptian ships and expects to receive two additional boats in 2028.
Earlier in November 2026, Viking also named two new vessels for the region, Viking Ptah and Viking Sekhmet.
