Hundreds gathered on the Richmond CA on Thursday, January 10, to celebrate the launch of new ferry service to downtown San Francisco CA.

The first ferry departed at 6:10 a.m. from the new US$20 million cruise terminal situated next to The Craneway Pavilion, 1414 Harbour Way South. The ferry sailed on to the San Francisco Ferry Building, which is a roughly 35-minute trip.

To start, the San Francisco Bay Ferry Service is making 4 runs from Richmond to SF during morning commute hours, and 4 runs from SF to Richmond in the evening commute hours. In the future, high demand could expand service.

The adult cash fare for the new ferry is US$9, with Clipper Card users receiving a discounted fare of US$6.75. For the disabled, seniors, and youth, it is US$4.50.
