Saint Lucia is currently planning to build a 2nd cruise ship port on the island, Prime Minister Allen Chastanet announced. The plan for a “southern” cruise port is close to Hewanorra Airport (Vieux Fort).

Chastanet added that would mean “people will be able to get off their chartered flights and go straight onto the cruise ships, within minutes.”

According to a government statement, this week country's Prime Minister is holding meetings with officials of Carnival Cruise Line to discuss plans for the southern seaport.

Chastanet will also be meeting with MSC Cruises management to continue discussions on the existing port in Castries, Pointe Seraphine, that recently underwent an expansion project.
