Carnival Cruise Port Creates 1,000 Construction Jobs

Before the Cabinet Meeting in Freeport (Grand Bahama Island) on Tuesday, February 5, Minister of Labour, Senator Hon. Dion Foulkes said that with the upcoming Grand Port, Grand Bahama might have full employment. 

When referring to the one thousand construction jobs expected to be needed for the building of the mega Grand Port by Carnival Corporation, he remarked that was "very good news for Grand Bahama.” 

The Minister added they might reach the point where they have full employment in Grand Bahama soon through the potential sale of "Our Lucaya, with further development of Ginn and with this project with Carnival.”

The labor agreement for Carnival Cruise Port is due to have a ratio of 80% Bahamian to 20% foreign workers. 

Members of Cabinet were in Grand Bahama to attend the information meeting by Carnival, explaining plans for a mega cruise port in East Grand Bahama.
