Passenger Overboard from Carnival Spirit

A passenger has fallen overboard from Carnival Spirit, various social media groups and CruiseMapper readers report.

Alert has been raised at around 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning, March 30, through the intercom of a person overboard as the ship was heading to Noumea.

Carnival Spirit has turned around to retrace her course and is currently looking for the passenger.

At the time of the accident, the Carnival vessel was sailing on an 11-day round-trip Pacific Islands cruise which departed on March 27 from Sydney with ports of call including Noumea, Grande Terre Island, New Caledonia (Mar 30), Mystery Island, Aneityum, Vanuatu (Mar 31), Champagne Bay, Espiritu Santo, Vanuatu (Apr 1), Port Vila, Efate Island, Vanuatu (Apr 2), and Mare Island, Tadine, New Caledonia (Apr 3).

Carnival Spirit is scheduled to sail back to Sydney on April 7.
