On Sunday, May 26, Portland Port welcomed a new state of the art luxury expedition cruise ship on an inaugural visit, Hanseatic Nature. As one of the 18 German ships Portland is expecting this year, Hanseatic Nature is operated by Hapag-Lloyd Cruises who have entered the expedition travel market.

Hanseatic Nature is the first of 3 structurally identical vessels in the line’s expedition class and can accommodate up to 230 passengers.

Ship's itinerary program is based on polar expedition voyages to destinations in Europe's Arctic and Antarctica, as well as tropical destinations including the south seas and Amazon River.
