Accor Cruises' brand Orient Express has unveiled the launch of its first superyacht, Orient Express Corinthian, scheduled to commence operations in the Caribbean in autumn 2026.
The luxurious sailing vessel will depart Lisbon (Portugal) on October 12th for a 14‑night Transatlantic crossing (relocation voyage) to Bridgetown (Barbados), initiating a season of mostly 2‑ to 9‑night itineraries through March 2027, featuring destinations such as Saint‑Barthélemy, Moskito Island, the Exumas, and the Tobago Cays.
At 220 m in length with an air draft exceeding 100 m, Corinthian will be regarded as the world’s largest sailing yacht upon delivery—featuring 54 suites ranging in size from approximately 485 ft² to nearly 2,476 ft², each with panoramic windows or private terraces. The vessel will carry up to 110 guests served by a 1:1 crew ratio, echoing the refinement of the golden age of travel under the direction of Artistic Director Maxime d’Angeac.
Harnessing the innovative SolidSail propulsion system designed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the yacht will carry three rigid sails with a total load area of around 1,500 m², hoisted on tilting masts. Under favourable conditions, this enables up to 100% wind-powered navigation at speeds of around 17 knots. A hybrid engine running on liquefied natural gas will supplement the sails as needed.
Interiors foster a sense of timeless elegance inspired by classic ocean liners such as the SS Normandie. Suites and public areas are crafted by French artisans, and the onboard experience includes five restaurants, a 115‑seat cabaret, two pools, a marina, a recording studio, wellness spaces, and more—all underpinned by culinary direction from Michelin-starred chef Yannick Alléno, also responsible for Orient Express train and yacht dining.
From a maritime perspective, this deployment underscores Orient Express’s evolution from legendary rail travel to sea. The Corinthian will operate an inaugural Caribbean season from October 2026 to March 2027, with voyages designed to explore secluded harbours, pristine reefs, and cultural ports across the region. Itineraries range from short sailing escapes to deeper wellness-focused experiences in less-travelled inlets.
Orient Express plans to launch a sister vessel, the Olympian, in 2027. The success of Corinthian’s Caribbean season will mark a pivotal moment in luxury maritime travel, blending heritage, sustainability, and immersive design at sea.
