A Monaco-based luxury cruise line received a welcome in Nanaimo (Vancouver Island, BC Canada) on Sunday, June 16. Season's first cruise vessel - Silversea’s Silver Muse - arrived Sunday morning and stayed until the evening. The 596-passenger ship arrived from Prince Rupert.

According to Port Nanaimo's press release, "a ship the size of Silver Muse could have an economic impact of as much as $48,000."

According to Ian Marr, port CEO, the Port of Nanaimo had built "an outstanding dock facility and welcome center for cruise ships.” He added that as the community continued to expand the on-shore attractions it could offer, the number of cruise ships visiting Nanaimo would continue to increase.

Two more cruise vessels - Silver Explorer and Azamara Quest - are slated to come to the port of Nanaimo next month, both on July 11.
