Port of Newcastle Commences 2019-2020 Cruise Season

The arrival of Celebrity Solstice to Port Newcastle, NSW Australia on Wednesday, October 16, marked the beginning of the city’s 2019-2020 season.

The region is now looking forward to fifteen calls this season, suggesting a record of over 30,000 cruise passengers might be set. This season includes 3 maiden port calls - scheduled for the ships Explorer Dream, Golden Princess and Sea Princess. Explorer Dream will call at Port Newcastle 6 times - between October 28 and December 2, 2019.

Distinguishable by the blue shirts and white hats, Newcastle Cruise Volunteers are on hand to provide a welcome for passengers. The 38 dedicated volunteers provide expert local advice to ensure travelers get the most out of their stay in the port city.

In 2019, the Port has invested a further US$250,000 in upgrades to the Channel Berth infrastructure.

The 2018-2019 cruise season was record-breaking, with a total of 16 cruise ships and over 29,000 cruisers visiting the port.

Celebrity Solstice is scheduled to visit 4 times this season.
