A statement by NCL said that a few guests onboard had experienced a stomach-related illness. To mitigate any impact of the rare occurrence, the cruise company had implemented "stringent sanitation procedures."  Of the 6 travelers treated, 4 were taken to hospitals. Norwegian Joy departed from PortMiami on a 16-day repositioning cruise from Florida to California on November 8, with call ports Great Stirrup Cay, Cartagena, Puerto Quetzal, Acapulco, Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas.
