The first round of Meyer Turku’s YT negotiations has now come to a conclusion. Meyer Turku (a Finnish shipbuilding company located in Turku, Finland) confirmed 166 job losses.

At this point, the number includes 80 white-collars and 86 blue-collar workers. Due to the shipyard's production schedules, the negotiations concerning HR, outfitting, and design functions will continue and will be finished during 2020.

The pandemic drastically changed the landscape of shipbuilding and cruise operation. In April Meyer Turku unveiled the objective to stretch out the order book reaching to 2025 in order to secure work for years 2025 and 2026.

At the same time, the company started negotiations to permanently layoff a total of 450 people.

Meyer Turku will also commence a transition program where everyone willing will get personal support, guidance, and specialized training to ease the transition.
