Kasane is a city in Botswana, located close to Africa's 'Four Corners', where 4 countries almost meet: Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. Kasane is at the far north-eastern corner of Botswana and serves as the administrative center of Chobe District. In 2001 the population of Kasane was 7,640. The town lies on the south bank of 200-300 m (660-980 ft) wide Chobe River which forms the border with extreme tip of Namibia's Caprivi Strip. The island of Impalila (Namibia) lies opposite the town on the river's north bank, and there is a border crossing by passenger ferry to Namibia. The city of Kasane has a number of lodges and campsites (accommodations oriented towards safari business). These lodges offer day trips into Chobe National Park, and boat trips on Chobe River. Kasane has First National Bank, Barclays Bank, Stanbic and Standard Chartered Bank with ATM facilities.
