Preveza is a port town located in Epirus region, northwestern Greece, at the mouth of Ambracian Gulf. It covers a total municipality area of approx 380,5 km2 (146,9 ml2) and has a population of around 31,730 people (2011 census).

  • Preveza is the capital city of the regional unit of Preveza, part of Epirus region. Aktio-Preveza Immersed Tunnel is the first and so far only undersea Greek tunnel. It was completed in 2002 and links Preveza with Aktio, western Acarnania in Aetolia-Acarnania region. The ruins of ancient Nicopolis city lie 7 km (4 ml) north of the city.
  • Various theories have been suggested as to the origin of the name "Preveza". In 1857, Panagiotis Aravantinos (1811-1870), one of the earliest historians of Epirus, suggested the Italian origin of the name, related to the word "prevesione", "supply".
  • The present-time municipality of Preveza was established at 2011 local government reform via the merger of three former municipalities, which became municipal units.
  • Port Preveza is connected by road to Igoumenitsa as well as to other coastal settlements via E55 national road. It is also linked with other Epirus' cities like Arta and Ioannina. Preveza also features a small passenger and commercial port and is served by nearby Aktion National Airport, also serving Lefkada Island.

The Preveza cruise port map is interactive. It shows the port's exact location, along with the real-time cruise ship traffic (if any) in its vicinity - today, and right now. By zooming-out you can see other cruise ship ports located near Preveza, Greece.
