- Patron Saint festival of Vilagarcia de Arousa takes place during ten days around August 16, the day of San Roque (Saint Roch). On that day a couple of celebrations consecutively take place. The first one is of religious nature and starts with a mass and procession of the saint's image from Iglesia de Santa Eulalia (the parish church) to Saint Roch's Chapel. Thousands accompany the image, which is carried out moving to the beat of Triunfo paso doble. The second celebration, Festa da Auga ("the water festival"), subsequently takes place. Thousands go through the streets shouting for "¡agua!" (water) and the neighbors respond to the prayers by throwing water out of the windows. The aim is to get everybody wet.The celebration doesn't end until the evening's beginning. A certain area is designated as "the wet area".
- During that special week other activities also take place: parades, free Spanish bands' concerts, Galician folk dance & music, etc. One of the major events is Combate Naval, a fireworks display giving the final touch to the festival.
